Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. ACTS 6:3
The Deacon Ministry at New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church is the only other Ministry that is “ordained” at the church, and this means that the Ordained Reverends and Deacons are the only ones that serve communion to the members of God’s family.
Deacons are to be servants, and their duties and responsibilities are written in Acts 6:2-3.
Deacons assist the Pastor in the execution of his spiritual work, serving the needs of the membership, teaching classes, visiting the sick and shut-in. Deacons are to be available to family members during times of bereavement, to offer counseling, planning spiritual events for personal growth, evaluating Church programs, and praying with and for members. The Deacon accepts the lifelong commitment to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the local church.
